It is with regret that the Central England Darts League will not be hosting a CEDL Tamworth this year. The interest and commitment from local players has dwindled since we began the league back in July 2018. The number of players joining at the start, then having to drop out throughout the season, was unacceptable from an administrative point of view. I also understand players are joining other leagues this year, including to join other CEDL venues which is encouraging. We struggled to see the season out with 30 players, having to reduce the number of weeks, and subscriptions which obviously led to a reduction in prize money.
I would like to thank the players that have stuck with us throughout the 18 months and who are welcome to join the CEDL at one of our other 3 venues, CEDL Hinckley at the Wykin Club on a Tuesday night being the closest. Many thanks to Wayne Hewins and the staff of the Belgrave Sports & Social Club for there support & hosting of the CEDL & everyone that took time out to set the room up each week. Thank you to Mark Jones & Wayne Macken who both worked tirelessly week in week out to keep the fixtures and games flowing, difficult at times when players decide not to turn up without letting anyone know!
Sorry to the players that were looking forward to the new season, you are more than welcome to join the CEDL at one of our other venues. Thanks again to everyone involved at Tamworth, and on behalf of the CEDL committee we wish you all a very Happy New Year!
